Elon Musk has revealed Tesla's rapid progress in AI chip development, announcing the near-completion of its AI5 self-driving computer chip and the initiation of AI6 chip design. The electric vehicle Maker aims to establish a nine-month design cycle for future iterations, including AI7 through AI9, signaling an aggressive roadmap for semiconductor innovation.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company will produce the AI5 chips, with mass production slated for 2027. These chips will replace the current AI4 versions in Tesla vehicles. The company's $16.5 billion deal with Samsung Electronics for US-based A16 chip manufacturing underscores its vertical integration strategy.
